The CA YMCA Youth & Government is holding a conference for 2,500 Feb. 13th - 16th, and they have requested medical SMRC members (doctors, nurses, EMTs, etc.) to work with their first aid team at the 4 day event in Downtown Sacramento - Flier below. If you like working with junior high school and high school students, the CA YMCA needs your help! Shifts are available throughout the day and evening - 9 a.m. through 11 p.m. daily. Search and Rescue is the first aid lead for the event but they need the help of the SMRC members to help staff the event's first aid team! Parking can be reimbursed by CA YMCA and lunch and dinner meals are provided. To volunteer, first sign up through Get Connected so you will receive SMRC volunteer hours and then you will need to complete the following to volunteer with the CA YMCA since they have mandates to do their own background checks and provide training for all volunteers.
- Volunteers will create an account on VolunteerMatters.com and sign up for our event here: https://ymcala.volunteermatters.org/project-catalog/1557 When you click to sign up, you have to create an account and then use the link a second time to actually sign up. Alternatively, can make an account on the Volunteer Matters website, then go to the link to sign up. If you need help, contact Megan at MeganBrennan@ymcaLA.org
- Once this is complete we will send the paperwork and instructions for Livescan (free for medical volunteers)
- Once Livescan has cleared, we will set up an account for them to complete the Child Abuse Prevention training. (2 hour online training)
- Concurrently, we will register the individual and they will receive an email from CampDoc requesting they complete their health information.
