Volunteer: Paddle Splash Water and Wellness Festival - First Aid

The Paddle Splash Water and Wellness Festival, put on by Nor Cal SUP, provides paddling opps for youth.  The SMRC is once again asked to set up and staff a first aid station for this community event on the beach at Nimbus Flat on Lake Natomas.  Three medical professionals and one non-medical are needed.

Volunteer: YMCA Youth & Government Conference - On Call Doctor/RN

The CA YMCA Youth & Government is holding a conference for 2,500 Feb. 13th - 16th, and they have requested medical SMRC members (doctors and RNs) to be available via phone to provide medical advice to their first aid medical team if needed over the weekend of their event.  SMRC members can serve on call from home for shifts over the 4 day event.  Volunteer hours will be earned for service if calls for medical advice come in or not from the First Aid team (Search and Rescue and SMRC members) on site at the conference 24-hours per day.

MDs, DOs, and NPs needed to assist with an upcoming sports physical clinics for Folsom Cordova Unified School District's - Mills Middle School in Rancho Cordova.  Physicals are for 6th - 12th grade students. Shifts are from 8 a.m. - noon in the cafeteria. Male and female volunteers needed.  Snacks and lunch provided. Please bring a stethoscope, autoscope, reflex hammer, and flashlight if you have them.  A checklist for physicals will be provided.

Travel days: June 3rd and June 6th The exercise incident will be a mass casualty at a major event with 17-hour operations. Travel, mileage, per-diem, meals (if not provided), and lodging will be reimbursable for those more than 50 miles away from the training and exercise sites.  Paramedic and EMT Continuing Education (CE), tentative Registered Nurse CEs, Medical Skills, Triage, Trauma injuries, MCI operations, logistics and Base of Operations training, CALMAT Sustainability and more California Labor Protection Letters will be provided upon request. Disaster Service Workers Volunteer Program (DSWVP) Swear in will be implemented. Valid government issued identification/Driver License are required.

·       This exercise is limited to up to 100 CAL-MAT/MRC participants. EMSA is also establishing a waiting list to ensure adequate coverage on exercise day.

The SMRC will staff an emergency preparedness outreach table at the Fire Fighters Burn Institute Fill the Boot Safety Fair in the parking lot at Sunrise Mall on Sat. Feb. 7th from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.  Members will unload our outreach table and supplies, set up our outreach table and distribute outreach materials. A helicopter will land onsite and lunch will be provided for vendors.
