Volunteer: Stop the Bleed TrainingThe Sacramento Medical Reserve Corps program has offered to provide one Stop the Bleed training for up to 20 people each, at an agreed upon location for two VOAD partner agencies located in Sacramento County. Participants in the course will learn how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control injuries. The training is hands on and the Date, time and location will be coordinated with selected partners. Volunteer: Sacramento International Airport Triennial ExerciseWant to step foot on an airport runway? Well, here’s your chance to see the tire rubber markings on Runway 17L by volunteering for SMF’s Triennial Exercise on August 19th 0700-1230 Below are some other volunteer perks: Complimentary Parking Gain insight into how emergency services operate. Contribute to improving community emergency preparedness. Witness a Coast Guard aircraft and REACH helicopter in use Provided lunch, snacks and drinkshttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/J2M6CHW (If needed cut and paste this link into a browser). Inspiring actors - The airport is looking for volunteer role players to participate in their triennial exercise. An official airport sign up link will be shared soon but I want to send this out as a save the date for members who would like to participate. Role players may be moulaged (make up to simulate injuries) and loaded onto a plane that will be used during the exercise. Note - this is an outdoors event held in the morning hours and you may be asked to evacuate the plane and sit or lay on the tarmac for long periods of time acting like you have an injury that they will assign to you.
